THE MAIN IDEA OF THE PROJECT
Most penthouses rely on blinding white walls and sheer glass to amplify their height. This one takes a decidedly different approach. It embraces the shadows. High above the urban grid, this multi-level residence proves that a moody, saturated palette can feel incredibly expansive. It is a strict study in deliberate texture, contrasting flat matte surfaces with highly polished stone, warm woods, and strategic bursts of jewel-toned color.
The main living area operates with open-plan precision. A classic chevron oak floor runs throughout the space, warming up the charcoal-toned architecture. In the kitchen, matte black cabinetry deliberately recedes into the background. This allows a dramatic black-and-white marble backsplash to command the room. A monolithic island, complete with a glass-fronted wine fridge, separates the culinary zone from the formal dining space.
it is anchored by a sharp inlay of black marble set directly into the floor. Above it hangs a striking, branching chandelier with luminous tubular elements. It’s an aggressive, geometric fixture. Yet, it works perfectly against the soft lines of the dining chairs and the massive, stone-clad feature wall in the adjacent living room.
Color is used sparingly but with absolute intent. A deep blue, channel-tufted sectional anchors the lounge. Across the room, two tall teal wingback chairs sit near the window line. They offer a brilliant, saturated contrast against the dominant greys, browns, and blacks of the custom built-in shelving behind them.
Then, there is the staircase.
A tight, industrial-leaning spiral of steel and wood, it punches through the ceiling, teasing an entirely different experience on the level above. Following it upward reveals the property's most surprising asset. The roof terrace.
This isn't merely a balcony. It is a private, sky-high compound. Boxy, black architectural volumes—echoing the dark interior palette below—house an exclusive rooftop spa area. The spa is wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glass, allowing those inside to look out over the parapet while remaining sheltered from the wind.
Outside, the strict geometry continues. Crisp paving stones cut through a perfectly manicured lawn, leading to plush sun loungers. The exterior lighting is particularly clever. As dusk approaches, circular halo sconces glow against the ivy-covered boundary walls, while low bollard lights illuminate the pathways.
It feels entirely removed from the rush of the streets below. Here was engineered a deeply insulated, highly controlled atmosphere that looks best right as the sun goes down.
